Know Your Leader-

How serious are you about your beliefs? How curious are you about where your teachings originated?

Most Christians quickly respond, “My beliefs are from the Bible!”

Yet, many times, those same beliefs are interpretations made by someone else who read the Bible instead of you. I venture to say that most Christians are sadly unaware of whose interpretations they believe! “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” (1 Timothy 3:16, NKJV), and yet, we take someone else’s word for Truth all too often.

We are instructed that turning to the Bible is the appropriate thing to do. Upon hearing someone declaring what was claimed as the word of God, the Bereans of the New Testament “searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so” (Acts 17:11b). Shouldn’t we do so also?

Though sometimes we feel we would like someone to clarify things for us. This is not wrong…but test those teachings against Scripture.

We should not trust just anybody. We should be wary!

We should know the history of those teachers we have been listening to and following in our beliefs. Are you aware of the origins of your current church and pastor’s teachings? Do you know what the inclinations, weaknesses, strengths, and fruits are of those you trust with eternal issues?

Here is your guide to ten of those top teachers and preachers of the past two millennia!

Clue yourself in! The top leaders’ biographies— the men who helped direct your beliefs— are all in one, easy-to-access spot.
